Now India will have indigenous Operating System for the country's various e-Governance projects. In this regard, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Department of Information Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Informatics Centre (NIC).
President of India launches National Teachers' portal
The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil launched a national portal for teachers www.teachersofindia.org, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today on the occasion of Teachers' Day. Launching the Portal the President said it is definitely a medium to improve the quality of education in schools and will also improve the teacher-student interaction in class.
If the new software developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC ) is accepted by medical equipment manufacturers and service providers, patients with medical history will no longer need to worry about maintaining their records and its compatability with different softwares.
Public Telephone service in every Indian village by 2009 end
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state owned telecom operator has begun the work on the second phase of installing public telephones in the remaining 50,000 villages after getting the green signal from Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
